DERECH DANIEL Park dedicated to the memory of Lt. Daniel Mandel z'l Alon Shvut, Gush Etzion, Israel
Daniel's friends from Alon Shvut want to memorialize their very special and beloved friend who was killed at the age of twenty four leading his elite unit in battle with terrorists in Shechem on April 15, 2003.
Remembered by his own soldiers and by his commanding officers as a unique leader and teacher, Daniel was also recognized by all who knew him as an unusually gifted musician and as a bright and innovative student of Torah and seeker of truth. They have designed a park around a path leading from his home to the center of Alon Shvut and to the synagogue - the path Daniel regularly walked with friends and family. Among its unique elements are steps as piano keys and a small amphitheatre in the shape of a guitar. Xylophones and wind chimes will play in the breeze. It is important to all of us who loved Daniel that he be remembered in the creative spirit with which he lived.
The estimated cost of the park is $80,000 US. His friends want to do as much of the work as is possible. This will bring the costs down.
We need your help to make this park happen and to memorialize this young hero who died so that the Jewish nation can be strong and free.
Please be generous with your support.
