Derech Daniel
Tzevet Daniel and the Jerusalem Marathon
On March 25th Tzevet Daniel will be running in the Jerusalem Marathon to raise funds for the Derech Daniel project. For more information contact Cheryl Mandel mandelcheryl@gmail.com
Twenty-three years ago we packed up our family of five young
children from Toronto and moved our home to Alon Shvut, Gush Etzion, Israel.
With every year in Israel our connection and commitment to the Jewish People and the Jewish State deepened.
On April 15, 2003 our middle child, Daniel z"l, was killed during his military service while apprehending terrorists in Nablus. Together with Daniel’s fellow soldiers and friends, our family, made the decision, even on that terrible day, to mobilize our energies, move forward and build.
We gave much thought to finding an appropriate way in which to memorialize our son. Daniel was a very charismatic young man - passionate about his country and extremely dedicated to the soldiers under his command. He was also an enormously talented musician.
We decided to build a small, but unique park in Daniel's memory believing it would accomplish two goals. First, it would pay tribute to Daniel's musical talent and his magical qualities. Secondly, it would be a way to give thanks to our community which had given us so much while raising our children – and now while mourning the loss of our son.
We love the design of Derech Daniel (Daniel’s Way) that we have. We have raised $110,000 towards the project. All we need in order to put a shovel into the ground is a further $50,000.
We are asking you to be a partner with us in this project and make a
donation so that we can complete Derech Daniel (please see the plan attached).
Any size donation will be very appreciated
The various components of the park can be donor-designated with plaques containing an inscription of your choosing.
Accredited receipts for tax exemption will be issued:
